Will Society Be More Advanced in 50 Years?

Day by day, week by week, month by month I get more and more disgruntled at where the human race is heading.  Do you think that the human race will be more advanced in 50 years?  Unfortunately I think we are regressing!

As the proud parent of a 2 year old, I am amazed more everyday at just how smart he is and how advanced he is compared to what I believe myself was at his age.  Kids are doing everything earlier and earlier each generation.  Some things good some things bad.  I have read that some girls are getting their periods at 9 years old!  That's just crazy.  Also kids are engaging in sexual activities at earlier ages as well.  Who do we have to blame?  Just watch MTV or BRAVO or E! for a few hours and you will have the answers to those questions!

Kids love music, I think we can all agree with that statement.  As soon as they get old enough to choose what they are listening to is where things start to go down hill.  Todays mainstream music teaches us that we need to drive around in escalades, have expensive jewelry, wear no clothes, drink as much as possible, smoke as much weed as possible, oh and lets not forget women need to back that ass up and put it down on me.  From a young age they are being taught that they should just automatically have everything without any hard work.  Oh and that they absolutely must have designer jeans, purses, etc. Well ok no big deal right?  Our school system will set them straight! WRONG! Everyone gets a trophy!  There are no losers!  Come on a child has to be taught that things only come with hard work like this country was built on.  The fact is there are losers and there are winners!  Where are the Bill Gates and Steve Jobs going to come from if no one faces adversity growing up?

My next issue is cell phones.  Don't get me wrong I spend way to much time on mine!  Not talking mind you, but texting!  Ahhhh yes texting!  I text simply because I hate talking on the phone mainly because I hate people.  All sorts of people I don't discriminate!  Future generations will not even be able to hold conversations because all they will know is how to text!  No problem right?  Their welfare checks will be texted to them with the tagline "Don't forget you're a winner, now go buy some booze and smokes with this"

I was in Walmart the other day (yes the dreaded Walmart, slayer of small business and the middle class) and I overheard this kid say to his friend "how much 2K is?"  now 2K is a sports video game franchise for those who were wondering.  I chuckled to myself and thought WTF?  Seriously?

I really hope that society and the human race will be more advanced in 50 years, judging by what I see in everyday life I would have to say that it's not going to be!  Everyday I see us slipping further and further into a society like that of the movie Idiocracy, check it out you will see what I mean.

RIP Ryan Dunn

I am a day late on the "Rip Ryan Dunn" bandwagon, better late than never?  I read an article on how fellow Jackass cast mates were "outraged" by a tweet by Roger Ebert.  The tweet went something like: Friends don't let jackasses drive drunk. Sure the autopsy results have not been released yet but I think it is safe to say that alcohol played a part in the accident especially after viewing the pic that Ryan posted of him and his buddies boozing earlier that night.

I have seen numerous tweets that are quite amusing like "Hi im Ryan Dunn and this is drunk driving" I myself chuckled at that one.  The reason there is outrage is Roger Ebert is famous.  There are thousands of posts and tweets that are way more offensive than his out there but they are not seen by many because the poster is not famous. I myself have lost a friend to drunk driving and I do think that it is a little early for jokes because even though it was his fault it still hurts.

Now I feel absolutely no remorse for those that kill themselves drunk driving.  Why you ask?  Well look at his passenger an innocent victim.  What if he had killed a family on the way to a vacation?  There is no excuse for drunk driving!  Thats what taxis are for as well as friends and family that could come and give you a ride home.  Actually there should be companies that you call, that drop off a driver to drive you and your car home!  I know how big a pain in the ass it is to leave your car some place and have to figure out a way to pick it up the next day but it is way better than the alternative, DEATH or killing an innocent child!

I do take offense to one of the Jackass casts comments saying "millions are fucking crying right now"  Really?  Millions? How about his friends and family and a few crazy stalker fans.  The truth is no one really cares.  How about millions of others that died the same day that got no undeserved publicity?  Maybe people that starved in third world countries or that died from poor health care not only in third world countries but also right here in the USA?  Or worse yet im sure some of our troops died or were severely injured somehwere in the world on the same day without any ridiculous publicity or stupid tweets.  Millions should be crying for them not a jackass!

Galaga Project

Well I picked up my next project today!  A 1981 Midway Galaga!  This thing is gonna need some work.  Needs some structural work as well as a complete cosmetic restoration.  The game is also currently not working.  Now all I need is some time!  Check out some pics below!

Oh Arnold

Oh Arnold........ Another day another celebrity sex scandal!  Arnold has come forward and admitted to fathering a child with one of their house staffers.  Funny thing is, it was like 10 years or so ago and the whole time they figured the employee's child was her husbands!

I will admit it is finally nice to see that Arnold actually was politician like!  We all questioned his ability to govern a state, when actually we had nothing to worry about! Just like many other politicians before him, he was unable to keep it in his pants and just like many more politicians to come there will be many more "basterd" children to talk about!

The Roommate

So I finally screened The Roommate.  Only problem is I think I have seen this movie about a thousand times before.  It follows the standard crazy stalker person story line that they all do.  I don't know why but I was hoping for something different.  I will say that Leighton Meester sure can make some creepy faces. Creepy faces aside, it's just too predictable right down to the final scene.  It's been done before and I imagine it will be done again.

Bottom line, The Roommate is a flick that you watch when it comes to HBO and there is nothing else on.

Playstation Network Back Up in US

What a shit show this has turned into.  Finally the playstation network is slowly coming back online!  With the US being the first to see service restored.

I find it unbelievable that it has taken Sony this long to get the network back up and running.  Microsoft should take note and evaluate the steps that they would need to take if the same sort of thing happened to them.

I never dreamed that a company as big as Sony would need this long to repair a major online service.  I think they need to hire some new staff in their IT department!  

I bet the geek that pulled off the slaying of the giant's service is just ready to explode.  I mean this would be great for a hacker's resume except he can't really brag about this exploit!  He must be sitting in his parents basement some where going nuts.  How funny would it be if he took it down again as soon as the service was restored worldwide?

New Google Chrome Laptops

Google has announced a new price model for the 2 google chrome os notebooks that will be released shortly!  You will receive a laptop and be required to pay $28 a month for business use or $20 a month for home/student use.  This marks a revolution of sorts in the hardware department.  With no up front costs and a monthly subscription plan, I suppose you will not really own the laptop!  

Now here is some major insight this could either fail, or take off with other major OS suppliers taking this same route.  I know I know Thanks Tips!  But seriously think about it, every time new hardware is released or your laptop "bites it" The big G will be responsible to supply you with a new one!  I kind of like this.  The only problem is I feel the chrome OS is very limited.  For some it will be great and offer everything you need but for others it will be very limited and really only be a paper weight that you use on the road for basic tasks such as email and watching porn.  But for $20 bucks a month and I believe no contract I may be tempted to try it out!

A new Mac with a hardware subscription plan?  Yes Please!!! Bring it on!!

Changes at Sov's Spot

All right here's the deal I haven't been posting as much lately again, I decided to change the look of the site as well as filter my posts into categories.  The list of categories you can find on the right column.  I only went back a little ways as most of my posts are way outdated tech news now.  I plan on posting regularly again so please subscribe, bookmark us, or hell get a tattoo the Sov's Spot logo on your ass!  I don't care!  I am also gonna change my writing style from covering tech news in the conventional boring ways that everyone else does, to an uncensored off the top of my head style.  Yes there may be "vulgar" language but with the amount of readers that I am used to seeing I doubt I will offend the 3 of you! So if you want no nonsense opinions on anything and everything please keep checking the blog out!

Kurt Cobain

Well it's that time of year all ready.  The time of year that we as music lovers look back on a tragic waste of talent.  Today is the anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death.  Where were you when you heard the news?  For my generation it is one of those questions that can be asked and almost certainly answered.

In a time when Michael Jackson was ruling the air waves, Nirvana sprung out of no where to single handedly change the "mainstream" music scene and launch a new style of Rock, Grunge.

What followed came some of the best Rock music of any decade.  Don't believe me?  Revisit 90's rock and then thank Mr.Cobain.  Just imagine the music we would have today if he were still around.  Truly sad.  One of the things that really bothers me though is the whole suicide thing.  I will follow the "sheep" and say what a tragedy it was that someone with so much talent killed himself.  Well I will say that but what I truly believe I will not.  Do your self a favor and honor Kurt today not only by listening to his music, but also researching the murder theory's.  I don't believe that he should be painted as someone who took their own life when there is an astounding amount of evidence that says different.  That is all!
